Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect physical measurements from study participants, including weight, height, and other diet and physical activity measures.

  • Administer health-related questionnaires to study participants.

  • Collect, process, and ship study participant blood samples.

  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics of study visits and program events.

  • Collect and enter data from visit forms into a secure REDCap database.

  • Document, organize, and synthesize data collection procedures outlined in the manual of operations.

  • Assemble and mail out data collection kits to study participants.

Minimum Requirements

Entry Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in biological sciences, health/medical research, public health, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Bilingual English and Spanish speaking required.

Intermediate Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in biological sciences, health/medical research, public health, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • One (1) year of professional level experience in a clinical research setting working directly with patients/study participants.

  • Bilingual English and Spanish speaking required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with pregnant people, infants, and children.

  • Working knowledge of epidemiology, environmental health, or chronic diseases, such as obesity and diabetes.

  • Experience in phlebotomy and specimen processing.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for study visits in participants' homes as needed.

  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and/or overnight travel with advance notice.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

Join the Colorado School of Public Health as a Bilingual Research Specialist. This participant-facing data collection position is a key member of the school's Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity and Diabetes (LEAD) Center and will handle duties supporting a new NIH-funded pre-birth cohort study. This Denver-based cohort is part of a national consortium "Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes" (ECHO) study, where the goal of the project is to recruit and longitudinally follow a cohort of 810 pregnant people, their conceiving partners, and their offspring. This position will be responsible for the implementation of the ECHO research protocol as conducted by study investigators at the LEAD Center, which includes the collection and entry of data, questionnaires, physical measurements, and blood samples from study participants. The Research Specialist will be responsible for maintaining University-required training in ethics and best practices for human subjects research and will be familiar with and adhere to IRB-approved research protocol. This is a full-time position and reports to the Project Manager.

Onsite – This position is located on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. Study visits will take place in participants' homes as needed. Occasional evening and/or overnight travel will be required with advance notice.
