The Anschutz Health & Wellness Center has an opening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Clinic Business Manager (Business Services Manager) position.

About the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center:

The Anschutz Health and Wellness Center (AHWC) resides within the School of Medicine at the Anschutz Medical Campus. AWHC is an interdisciplinary center, becoming the nation’s go to source of information and programs related to wellness. Top researchers work side-by-side with clinicians to develop and deliver wellness programs and work with community interventionists to take these programs beyond the walls of the Center into communities. The mission of the Center is “to transform the lives of individuals and communities through science-based wellness strategies.”

The Anschutz Health and Wellness Center’s Vision is, “a world where accumulating wellness is the norm”. All endeavors at the center are focused on this vision. An integrated approach, with a common philosophy is core to the development of the Center’s programs. These programs strive to involve every area of the business, including wellness clinic services, the fitness center, the metabolic and demonstration kitchens. Without this integration, it is not possible to achieve the vision that catalyzed the development of the AHWC. The Center serves as a “learning lab” for creating a model of standard care for wellness centers that can be replicated and exported.

Nature of Work:

We are seeking an experienced business services clinical manager to provide oversight for the CU Wellness Clinic at the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center (AHWC). This individual will work closely with and support providers, including endocrinologists, internists, gastroenterologists, psychologists, advanced practice providers and dieticians with the ongoing care and treatment of physician-directed weight loss and wellness services as described below. In addition, this person will supervise clinical and administrative staff, as well as manage day-to-day activities of a 30 room clinical enterprise, consisting of tenants, research and programs within the clinical space.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Conducts annual performance evaluations of medical assistants, radiology technician and administrative support staff.

  • Builds relationships with providers, staff and tenants that foster communication, support and best practices.

  • Provides and reviews safety procedures and practices in the clinic, including emergency responses, evacuation, and patient and staff safety.

  • Recognizes needs of providers, staff and tenants, and provides resources to help improve processes, workflows and communication.

  • Leads team meetings and provides updates to the center at monthly Town Hall meetings; distributes HAN advisories and clinic updates.

  • Reports to the Assistant Director of Finance and Administration on recruitment, business strategies and clinical finances.

  • Provides clinic onboarding and training to new providers, staff and tenants.

  • Is a resource for clinical and research needs, including assisting with room reservations, assisting with completion of research intake forms, addressing provider and tenant needs and allocating resources.

  • Responsible for adherence to clinic budget, including ordering supplies, maintaining service contracts, submitting work orders for facilities, and fiscal management of time and resources in the clinic.

  • Adheres to all CU School of Medicine Freestanding Clinic guidelines and policies, and communicates updates to clinical team.

  • Creates and adheres to a culture of inclusiveness and teamwork.

  • Maintains CLIA waiver and DEXA variance from CDPHE for reporting and compliance.

  • Ensures body composition assessment machines and other calibrated equipment have routine maintenance and compliance standards are met.

  • Facilitates clinical and research space requests, as well as provides staffing resources for research projects and clinic support.

  • Works closely with the Medical Director and Associate Medical Director on communicating items in the clinic, needs, resources and updates.

  • Manages incoming leads from website for clinical services and information.

  • Fosters relationships with center partners including research, fitness and dietitian services and leverages these relationships to build strong communication and pathways for providers and clients.

  • Responsible for provider income reporting, maintaining clinical efficiencies and utilization of space, and incoming referrals.

  • Works as part of multidisciplinary teams at the CU Wellness Clinic, including care coordination activities and attending team meetings.

  • Responsible for ensuring staff are appropriately trained on point of sale systems, insurance verification and patient scheduling.

  • Manage all clinic keys, key requests, badge requests, safe code, and petty cash.

  • Manage all clinical supplies including linens, office supplies, medical and exam room supplies.

  • Review monthly OIT invoices and charges, and ensures accurate billing and usage for telecom and IT needs.

  • Works with LAN Administrator and OIT on computer and telecom needs in the clinic.

Salary and Benefits:

The starting salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, business administration, healthcare administration, public administration or a directly related field from an accredited institution

  • Three (3) years’ of experience working in a clinical setting.

  • One (1) year of experience acting as a supervisor or team lead in a clinical setting.

Substitution:A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epic user experience.

  • Academic medicine clinical experience.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Flexibility, multi-tasking, strong organizational skills.

  • Sensitive to issues of diversity.

  • Ability to provide objective leadership and support to a wide variety of clinical and non-clinical team members.
