Job Title: Clinical Research Nurse

Job Summary:

FTE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screening and recruitment of research participants, including the coordination of recruitment activities across sites, including the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital, in collaboration with other members of the research team.

  • Perform clinical and research assessments of pregnant women and infants.

  • Provide emergent clinical support and/or referral to participants as necessary.

  • Training and supervision of new or entry-level team members and students.

  • Participate in study management, including tracking participation, developing, and maintaining databases that relate to human-subject issues (e.g., handling of dropouts, participants' special requests regarding the use of genetic information, etc.).

  • Tabulate (or supervise) research data for presentations, papers, and grant applications.

  • Work with regulatory oversight entities, such as Institutional Review Boards and the FDA, including the preparation and submission of annual reports.

  • Track compliance of team members with required training and certifications, including environmental health and safety and Institutional Review Board.

  • Work with study-affiliated entities, including the clinical research pharmacy, research collaborators, suppliers, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

  • An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) degree and two (2) additional years of experience will substitute for the BSN degree.

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse.

  • Three (3) years clinical research or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of clinical research or related experience.

  • Experience working with pregnant women and/or young infants is preferred, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

This full-time (1.0 ) position is in a research program focused on the developmental pathways associated with neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, autism, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. We hope by understanding the brain and behavior from the prenatal period through adulthood we can develop novel prevention strategies. This Research Services Principal Clinical Science Professional (RN/BSN) will be involved in the recruitment, evaluation, and testing of pregnant women and their offspring participating in intervention research projects. They will also provide training, supervision, and support to entry-level team members related to study-related clinical procedures. This Research Services Principal Professional (RN/BSN/BSN) will usually have regular work hours, but the flexibility to work some evenings or weekends (generally up to 1-2 weekend days per month) to facilitate research participant involvement is required.
