Nature of Work:
The University of Colorado, College of Nursing, is seeking a semi-skilled Clinical Simulation Temporary Assistant requiring the application of various knowledge and experience. This position will need to follow established guidelines and checklists in the execution of assigned duties. . Duties will vary from shift to shift and it will be important to prioritize based on communicated guidance from the direct supervisor. This position will have a varied schedule depending on simulation needs and the hourly weeks will generally range between 15 – 20 hours per week.
The College of Nursing, On-Site Clinical Simulation Program includes the Clinical Education Center (CEC) is an innovative clinical learning environment that prepares nursing students for safe patient care in today’s complex healthcare systems. The Clinical Education Center promotes a safe environment for student nurses to learn the foundational skills needed to care for patients, but they also learn professionalism and the role of the nurse. This pioneering area within the College of Nursing is on the leading edge for integrating informatics into nursing education. Through a partnership with University of Colorado Hospital, the Clinical Education Center is able to provide students with the opportunity to engage in electronic medical records. The addition of a Care Fusion Pyxis machine to immolate electronic medication dispensing into the undergraduate clinical education is going to allow students the best practices in safe medication practices. The Clinical Education Center is available across the College of Nursing curriculum and on the Anschutz Medical Campus as a clinical resource across professions. The On-Site Clinical Simulation Program also includes a Simulation Suite at both the Anschutz Medical Campus and CU Denver South Campus.
This position will report directly to the CEC Laboratory Coordinator and will also receive direction via established guidelines, checklists as well as other CEC Leadership, including the Sr. Director of Experiential Learning: Placements and Simulation.
Examples of Work Performed/ Responsibilities/Duties:
CEC space is organized, clean, supplies stocked and well maintained; each bedside returned to basic set-up
Put away supplies in proper location after use - labels, armbands, medications
General maintenance and upkeep of task trainers, models (IV arms, pelvic models, wound trainers)
Inventory supplies utilizing an inventory check list
Put away supply deliveries, securely at AMC in proper location.
Organization of paperwork needed for activities (this may include copying, printing, collating, stapling, etc.)
Assists Administration to proactively support all teaching staff anticipating course needs-supplies, set-up, tech support.
Following established guidelines and checklists, set-up and breakdown CEC course rooms, including paperwork, supplies, equipment, etc.
Simulation Environment, as needed assist Sim Tech.
