Key Responsibilities:

This list is not intended to be inclusive of all responsibilities of the role. Duties will vary to fit the needs of the Diane O'Connor Thompson Breast Center and Department of Surgery.

  • Co-Manage and expand breast clinical program across the Denver metro area (including all locations where the division currently operates); develops and grows collaboration across the entire system; partners with Co-Director in Medical Oncology.

  • Provide high quality education for students, residents, and fellows.

  • Support growth and expansion of research and scholarly activity within the Breast Surgery Group and the Division of surgical oncology and collaborating divisions.

  • Supports and manages relationships across the entire system as it relates to breast surgery and surgical oncology (including but not limited to other specialties that work with breast surgery and system leadership).

  • Provide care to patients in the outpatient Surgical Oncology breast clinics.

  • Close collaboration with general surgeons, sub-specialty surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists and hospital staff will be necessary.

  • Professional interaction with referring physicians and staff, emergency medical personnel and multidisciplinary providers is essential.

  • Surgeon may at times be asked to provide cross coverage clinical care on different services.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Associate Professor:

  • MD/DO from an accredited school of medicine.

  • Trained in General Surgery (or equivalent that would allow for work in all required areas).

  • Completion of Complex Surgical Oncology Fellowship or Breast Fellowship (ACGME accredited).

  • CO Medical license or license eligible

  • 5 years' experience in Breast Surgical Oncology.

  • Experience in clinical program administration.

  • Fulfill the requirements to be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor at the University of Colorado

  • Experience in an academic environment with proven clinical, education and research accomplishments.

Professor:

  • MD/DO from an accredited school of medicine

  • Trained in General Surgery (or equivalent that would allow for work in all required areas)

  • Completion of Complex Surgical Oncology Fellowship or Breast Fellowship (ACGME accredited)

  • CO Medical license or license eligible

  • Fulfill the requirements to be appointed at the rank of Professor at the University of Colorado

  • 7+ years' experience in Breast Surgical Oncology

  • Experience in clinical program administration.

  • Experience in an academic environment with proven clinical, education and research accomplishments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a hub-and-spoke model with a central academic breast program and satellite community breast centers.

  • Experience with Multidisciplinary research.

  • Positive track record of teambuilding; experience leading a multidisciplinary team and building a clinical program.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in a leadership role in an academic setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • The successful candidate will be comfortable with all aspects of breast surgery and diseases.

  • Leadership skills driving comprehensive, multi-site programs.

  • Experience with strategic problem-solving across teams.

The starting salary range () for this position has been established as $345,230-$451,757 $388,263-$481,159 The section head portion of the role will receive salary support.
