The purpose of this position isprovide four-handed chair side dental assistance in all specialized dentistry (Surgical, Periodontics, Restorative, Endodontics) to the Oral Surgery and Emergency Clinics, undergraduate dental students and faculty, patient preparation and positioning, clinical area preparation, use of sterile techniques and performing infection control procedures. Maintain patient data and records. Performs and develops dental radiographs. Provide demonstration and instruction in the assigned areas of technical dentistry practices when assisting the dental students.
_Examples of Work Performed:_
Assist Oral Surgery and Emergency Clinic faculty in the Specialty Clinic
Assist in teaching of undergraduate students in all specialized areas of four-handed dentistry which includes, but not limited to surgical, periodontal, restorative, and all other related procedures.
Patient preparation and positioning; clinical area preparation for the treatment of patients.
Must have comprehensive knowledge of dental materials, their use, maintenance and storage.
Prepare specialized instruments set-ups for residents, undergraduate students and faculty to be used during dental patient treatment.
Inspect appropriate instruments/tools for good condition /working order.
Perform appropriate aseptic and sterilization techniques
And other duties as assigned

_Salary and Benefits:_
Hiring Salary Range: $2971-$4193 / month (non-negotiable)*
*The salary offered is usually the minimum listed, however, a salary above the minimum may be offered for some hard to fill positions.

_MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:__ _
Two (2) years of dental assisting experience.
Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.
_SUBSTITUTION_: Successful completion of an accredited dental assisting program may substitute for one year of experience.
NOTE: If exercising the education substitution, applicants _MUST_ attach a copy of their dental assisting certificate to their application materials no later than the closing date listed in the announcement.
_NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:_
Must possess current valid CPR and/or BLS certification. Proof of certification _MUST_ be attached to application materials no later than the closing date listed in the announcement. Failure to do so may prevent you from competing in subsequent measures used to arrive at a top group of applicants.
_CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:_
Must be willing and able to exert up to 20 lbs. on occasion.
Must be willing and able to crouch and stoop on occasion.
Recent dental assisting experience (within the last 5 years) working in a dental office/clinic.
3 years of dental assisting experience
Dental assisting experience oral surgery
Experience performing and developing digital dental radiographs.
Experience in sterilizing dental tools, instruments and equipment.
Experience with clinical area preparation in a dental clinic or office.
Experience working with faculty, staff, and students in a higher education and/or academic medical environment.
Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) surgical license.
