Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion and across the campus and School of Medicine. Foster successful working relationships with students, resident/fellows, faculty, and staff.

  • Under the guidance of the CUSOM Associate Dean for DEI and the Admissions and DEI Manager, develop, implement and execute diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and goals.

  • Advise and provide operational support for students, resident/fellows, faculty, and staff.

  • Provide logistics and operational support for students, resident/fellows, faculty and staff including complex scheduling, event support, and advisement of programs, policies and procedures.

  • Prepare and distribute official communications, memos, and announcements for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

  • Procure goods and services and manage budgets in collaboration with the business services team.

Training and Event Planning

  • Serve as a primary contact for identity-based clubs and organizations housed in the Office of Medical Education. Support student events, activities, and programming to ensure alignment with the school's mission and goals.

  • Plan and manage complex logistics of annual events hosted by the office, including Toast to Diversity, Diversity & Inclusion Film Series, Second Look-day, Student National Medical Association (SNMA) Luncheon, Black Youth Summit, etc.

  • Collaborate with manager and Associate Dean for DEI to design, deliver, and support DEI admissions programing and specialized training for CUSOM faculty, staff, and students, ensuring content aligns with DEI concepts, historical context and the University mission, policies and procedures to foster a more inclusive and culturally diverse environment.

Pathway Programs and Admissions Committee

  • Collaborate with the CUSOM admissions team to develop and monitor a comprehensive recruiting program for underrepresented students in medicine, ensuring DEI-centric opportunities are integrated into prospective student outreach, admissions, and interview processes.

  • Lead the development, launch and management of content for CUSOM Pathway Programs (https://apptrkr.com/get_redirect.php?id=5342015&targetURL=https://medschool.cuanschutz.edu/deans-office/diversity-inclusion/about-us/pathwayprograms) such as the Pre-MD (https://apptrkr.com/get_redirect.php?id=5342015&targetURL=https://medschool.cuanschutz.edu/deans-office/diversity-inclusion/about-us/pre-med-program) , BA/BS-MD, Post Baccalaureate Programs.

DEI Projects and Initiatives

  • With management guidance, analyze current processes, create, and maintain flow maps and data tracking for admissions, pipeline programs and ongoing efforts encompassed in the office's strategic plan.

  • Develop preliminary drafts of benchmarking reports, special studies, and surveys.

  • Champion the daily operations by offering advanced expertise and consultation to various campus groups on DEI best practices and standards while ensuring constituents are applying regulations, policies, and practices of varying complexity appropriately.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience providing high-level administrative support in an academic environment.

  • Two (2) years of professional-level experience designing, delivering or supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion programs or initiatives.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in and/or demonstrated knowledge and commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and well-being across varied environments.

  • Experience working within an academic medical environment.

  • Experience in collaborating and engaging with diverse communities including participating in event planning, fundraising, and/or volunteering activities.

  • Formal coursework or training in multiculturalism, intercultural communications, Unconscious Bias, or related topics.

  • Previous experience with business procedures, including official functions, purchasing, reimbursements and travel.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, build relationships, and work effectively across all levels of an organization and with community partners.

  • A strong commitment to social justice, equity, and advocacy for underrepresented groups.

  • The ability to think creatively and innovatively to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.

  • Ability to navigate complex and evolving organizational landscapes with adaptability and flexibility.

  • Ability to independently research potential solutions, build consensus on approach and implement.

  • Knowledge of CUSOM programs, services, and student populations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate the importance of DEI initiatives to diverse audiences

  • Strong organizational skills and effective time management with the ability to reprioritize to meet deadlines.

  • Outstanding customer service skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
