The/Colorado Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CCTSI)/has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified),/Enterprise Application Specialist/position.

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Job Summary:

The Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI) Informatics Core has an opening for an Enterprise Application Specialist. This specialist will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing activities related to the implementation and ongoing support, maintenance, updating, and management of various CCTSI enterprise-level applications. The CCTSI supports transformational clinical and translational research at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and affiliated institutions. The CCTSI was created in 2008 with funding from the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) initiative of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The CCTSI Informatics Core supports the informatics needs of the CCTSI and is a home for informatics innovation.

We are looking for a team player with strong enterprise software skills and an interest in contributing to human health in an academic environment. This position includes managing both institutionally-developed Java web application stacks and Windows professional enterprise level commercial software applications. An understanding of application development and installation would be helpful, but no development is required for this position. Must have excellent communications skills, be willing to understand CCTSI processes, and contribute ideas and solutions to a high-performing, motivated informatics team. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours and reports to the Director of the CCTSI Informatics Services Support team.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Assures adherence to all research standards as set forth by the Interface

  • Perform technological support and maintenance of various enterprise applications including security patching, updates and application upgrades

  • Plan and perform application configuration, installation, and administration

  • Communicate with end-users to evaluate business processes, assess needs, identify key challenges, and define user requirements, project scope and deliverables

  • Design and implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient use and delivery of services and enterprise applications

  • Review and analyze existing application effectiveness and efficiency and develop strategies for improving and integrating these systems

  • Provide reports, data extractions, scripts, status updates and information from enterprise systems for consumption by end users, peers, and executive members

  • Create and maintain thorough application processes and end-user documentation

  • Maintain data security and integrity using industry standards and best practices

  • Resolve technical end-user support issues and problems as needed

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of IT Support Services

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or similar

  • At least one (1)-three years of information systems and/or enterprise-level application support and management experience

  • Experience providing end-user technical training

  • Experience working with third party vendors for application implementation and maintenance

  • Substitution: A combination of education, certification, and relevant work experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of information systems and/or enterprise-level application support and management experience


  • Strong knowledge of application administration including installation, configuration and support

  • Desire to have a solid understanding of multiple applications

  • Ability to collaborate with other team members, communicate effectively and respectfully, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and make sound decisions

  • Working knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems

*Salary and Benefits:

  • The salary range (or the hiring range) for this position has been established at $54,000 - $70,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience

  • This position is not eligible for overtime compensation
