The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Infectious Disease has an opening for a full-time Instructor - Advanced Practice Provider - Children's Hospital Immunodeficiency Program (CHiP) position.

_Job Summary:_

To provide medical management of HIV infection, primary health care to individuals from birth to adulthood, and participate in conduct of HIV-related clinical trials. The primary patient population will be with HIV positive infants, children and youth receiving care at Childrens Hospital Immunodeficiency Program (CHiP), including expectant mothers within that age range and their exposed infants. The ideal applicant will enjoy providing both subspecialty HIV care and some primary care in a holistic setting to a population of largely marginalized individuals, including patients with co-morbid substance use or psychological disorders, and those with barriers to health care, such as language, trauma, low health literacy, poverty, homelessness, and stigma. The applicant will be comfortable working in a team setting that includes physicians, social workers, mental health professionals, pharmacists, nutritionists, and out-reach workers.

The CHIP program is a federally-funded research network site in several networks and the applicant will be involved in the recruitment, assessment, and on-going evaluation of participants in clinical trials.

_Examples of Work Performed:_

  • Perform detailed history, physical exam and formulate differential diagnosis within scope of practice for HIV positive clients ages birth-adulthood, including expectant mothers receiving HIV management during pregnancy.

  • Formulate, implement, assess and readjust plan of care for developmentally appropriate HIV management, including medical education, adherence support, and medical case management with input and support from other members of multidisciplinary care team, including client referral for care to other entities.

  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing for diagnosis and management of HIV and related other disorders.

  • Manage common primary health needs impacted by HIV infection including but not limited to immunizations, sexual health and family planning, screening and treatment for dyslipidemia, depression, substance use.

  • Identify, educate, consent, and perform clinical studies in clients interested in participating in research.

  • Participate in workgroups and initiatives to improve the quality of care for clients receiving services in the CHiP Program.

PLEASENOTE: Candidates may be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

_Salary and Benefits:_

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation

_Minimum Requirements:_

  • Master's Degree (MSN)

  • Active Colorado APN License or ability to obtain before start date

  • Prescriptive Authority or ability to obtain before start date

  • 1 year of clinical experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse

_Conditions of Employment:_

  • Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check

_Preferred Qualifications:_

  • APN License with Family Nurse Practitioner certification

  • 2 or more years of clinical experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse

  • Experience working with marginalized populations

  • Experience working with international emigres

  • Experience providing primary care of individuals from birth to adulthood

  • Experience with HIV

  • Experience with routine antepartum monitoring

  • Experience with medical research

  • Experience with electronic medical records

  • Fluency in another language
