Instructor:

  • Master's Level Degree for appropriate Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA).

  • Appropriate board certification by employment start date.

  • Experience and training in caring for adults with serious illness, including cancer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 0-7 years of experience providing palliative care services

  • Fellowship experience will be considered under years' experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of billing for health care services in an ambulatory care setting

  • Strong foundation of knowledge for the specialty of palliative care, and integration of palliative care evidence and specialty outcomes into clinical practice

General Internal Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to provide palliative care services in an academic Palliative Care practice clinical setting at the University of Colorado Hospital or a University of Colorado Health hospital or clinic. This is a faculty position within the Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Colorado School of Medicine. The APP will provide specialty level palliative care to patients with serious illness. APP should have prior palliative care clinical experience, and must have experience and training in caring for adults with serious illness, including cancer. APP will be responsible for managing adults in a consultative role with an established diagnosis of a serious illness, managing complex symptoms specific to serious illness, conducting goals of care conversations and family meetings, discussing advance care planning, and making appropriate referrals to community palliative care programs and hospice care. APP should have a strong foundation of knowledge for the specialty of palliative care, and integration of palliative care evidence and specialty outcomes into clinical practice. APP role will include interfacing with the cancer center team and other primary treating teams, the inpatient/outpatient palliative care team, and provide primary and specialty level palliative care education, formally and informally, to patients, families and health care providers. Administrative responsibilities include active participation in palliative care quality improvement initiatives. APP will work collaboratively with faculty physicians and clinic staff. The APP will have opportunity for academic promotion judged on criteria of demonstrated excellence as a clinician/educator/scholar. APP's are encouraged to collaborate with other faculty in clinical research projects.

  • This role is expected to work onsite and is located in the Denver Metro area.

The starting salary range () for this position has been established as $94,765 to $120,000. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
