The Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Diabetes in the School of Medicine is looking for a part-time .50 FTE certified PA or RNP/CNS from an accredited program with prescriptive authority to work with both out-patient and in-patient diabetes management as an Instructor.

Predominately the outpatient setting, doing up to 8 half day clinics a week; this is flexible depending on how much time is dedicated to inpatients diabetes management. Some of these clinics will be at the Anschutz Outpatient Pavilion and some at the satellite facilities, such as Highlands Ranch Hospital, and Aspen Valley Hospital.

Successful candidate will be responsible for interfacing with the diabetes, metabolism and endocrinology team in order to provide direct patient care, clinical follow-up, lab review and other duties primarily in the outpatient environment. Knowledge of intensive diabetes management; either through multiple injections, insulin pump, therapy or other appropriate mechanisms will be required in this position.

Performs comprehensive health assessment, including health history, physical exams, preventive screening, identifies medical health risks and needs. Performs, orders and/or interprets diagnostic studies within scope of practice and clinical area of practice. Assures that patient and family teaching is adequate to manage health condition or wellness plan at home. Modifies care plan and reassesses and modifies plan as necessary. Serves as clinical consultant, participates in self-directed continued learning, including quality improvement and protocol development. Maintains CME credits as required for continued licensure.

Required Competencies:

Previous work in the field of Diabetes at a PA, nursing or CDE level for a minimum of one year. Interest in learning and gaining experience in the evaluation and management of common endocrine disorders, predominately thyroid disease and osteoporosis.

Minimum Requirements:

Certified PA or RNP from accredited program with prescriptive authority. Must be board certified by a national professional PA/nursing organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

PA, RNP/CNS diploma/certificate with prescriptive authority from an accredited post-basic nursing master's level nursing practitioner or CNS program.
