Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with and support the Metabolomics Core Manager and Director.
Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques with an emphasis on liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.
Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze data.
Prepare reports of quantitative findings including statistical analysis.
Maintain laboratory research records of all experiments performed.
Support analytical testing processes and ensure quality control.
Biomolecule extraction.
Preparation and characterization of internal standard solutions.
Method comparison and optimization.
Maintenance of technical analytical equipment, including preparing buffers.
Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas.
Pick up, transport, and maintain results, samples, documents, materials, and other items as needed.
Dispose of laboratory materials and samples using well-established guidelines and instructions.
Review, complete, and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information.
Dissemination of results and assisting in generating publications.
Oral and written presentation of technical results.
Meet with clients (faculty, students, and researchers) to present the results of technical analyses

Minimum Qualifications:
Entry Professional:
Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Intermediate Professional:
Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
One (1) year professional-level research experience.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
One (1) to Two (2) years of experience or background within an experimental or wet lab.
Prior experience in analytical chemistry, especially ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
