The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Cardiology, has an opening for a full-time (1.0FTE) Open-Rank**faculty member (Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor). This full-time position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The physician will serve the pediatric cardiology patients of Colorado Springs and southern Colorado in conjunction with the Colorado Springs faculty.

This description is a summary only and is describing the general level of work being performed, it is not intended to be all-inclusive. The duties of this position may change from time to time and/or based on business need.

At the Colorado Springs Briargate location the physician would join three established Pediatric Cardiologists. This location sees over 4,000 outpatient visits annually and over 3,500 echocardiograms in our on-site echo lab, which includes available stress testing, Holter and event monitors, fetal echocardiography, and electrophysiology with onsite clinics in ACHD. In addition, there are over 1,500 echocardiogram evaluations at local hospitals, with some inpatient consultations.

This site in Colorado Springs is home to a large and growing group of pediatricians and pediatric specialists in over 17 divisions. The newest Children's Hospital is scheduled for completion in Colorado Springs in the spring of 2019 and includes a 50 bed NICU; PICU, and Emergency Department. Briargate Cardiologists serve Southern Colorado with several outreach clinics as well. Heart surgeries are performed at the main campus in Aurora just over one-hour north. A branch campus of the medical school is also centered in Colorado Springs, and teaching opportunities are available.

_Examples of Work Performed:___

  • Provide direct patient care in the cardiology ambulatory setting at the CU Briargate Specialty Clinic for Children located in Colorado Springs, Colorado

  • Provide clinical care services in outpatient clinics, outreach clinics, and hospital consults

  • Interpret and perform diagnostic testing of patients

  • Serve day/night/weekend on call in conjunction with Colorado Springs cardiology faculty

  • Attend relevant conferences and continuing education opportunities

Minimum Requirements

  • MD/DO (or equivalent)

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology

Conditions of Employment

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex offender background check

  • Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule for on-call hours including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional/advanced training in cardiac imaging

  • Prior experience mentoring and educating junior fellows

  • Successful completion of an advanced subspecialty fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology
