Job Title: Post-Award Grant Administrator (Senior – Principal Level)

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of sponsored projects for the Department.

  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator to review the notice of grant award and ensure all budgets are accurate and set up correctly per University policies and procedures and sponsor instructions.

  • Manage all subcontracts with participating institutions and facilitate payment of invoices promptly.

  • Work with PI to proactively establish correct funding and effort of personnel for each project. Review monthly to maintain accuracy and process proactive and retroactive funding transactions per University procedures.

  • Prepare and reconcile Federal Financial Reports and Final Expenditure Reports and manage project close-out process accurately and within required deadlines.

  • Prepare projection reports and develop a reconciliation process to review with PI regularly. (Monthly or Bi-Monthly).

  • Funding allocation update and process payroll adjustment and cost allocation entry as needed.

  • Collaborating with other Grant Administrators under the department for process improvement related to grant management.

  • Other Grant administration as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Senior Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • Two (2) years of professional-level experience in post-award capacity related to sponsored project administration and management.

Principal Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • Three (3) years of professional level experience in post-award capacity related to sponsored project administration and management.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. A master's degree in a directly related field from an accredited institution may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) or more years of professional level experience in a post-award capacity related to sponsored project administration and management.

  • Experience in post-award contracts and grant administrations in an academic setting.

  • Experience or familiarity with CU Data, A2E, HCM and CU Marketplace.

  • Experience in interpreting and applying policies from a variety of funding structures (federal, state, foundation, and institutional) and serving as a resource to others.

  • Experience working in an academic medical center.

  • Experience with NIH grant submissions.

  • Experience working with PeopleSoft HRMS and/or Finance.

  • Experience using integrated accounting, purchasing, and payroll systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

  • Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheets, word processing, email, and calendar software.
