Overall Description of Responsibility or Nature of Work

The College of Nursing has an open for a clinical research postdoctoral fellow position in the field of health promotion and prevention. This position is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. This position reports directly to Dr. Bonnie Gance-Cleveland, Professor in the College of Nursing, Office of Research and Scholarship, and this fellow will receive systematic training in the specialized knowledge and skills related to prevention and health promotion in maternal-child care with a specific emphasis on health disparities and the development and implementation of clinical decision support interventions.

Training Philosophy

The CU College of Nursing training philosophy is based on the scientist-practitioner model: the fellow will be trained in advanced skills in the integration of research and scholarship focused on maternal-child prevention.

Areas of Responsibility / Scope of Research

This fellowship is related to prevention and health promotion in maternal-child care with a specific emphasis on health disparities and the development and implementation of clinical decision support interventions. The fellow will receive core training experiences: clinical research, research program development, and teaching.This position is for full time for one year or part time for two years. Approximately 75% of the fellow’s time will be spent on research through participation on existing grants, with the other 25% spent in coordination of future grant development, teaching, and project management. The fellow’s training includes study design and execution, implementing behavioral interventions, working with a multidisciplinary care team, manuscript writing, and grant preparation. Fellows will have the opportunity to receive additional mentorship via team collaborations within the College of Nursing and Children’s Hospital Colorado. Educational opportunities will be tailored to the fellow’s individual training needs and career goals include grand rounds, didactics, and seminars within the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Salary and Benefits:



Salary will be based on the current NIH postdoctoral pay scale guidelines, and is commensurate with skills and experience. The University of Colorado offers postdocs most employee benefits. Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation from an approved doctoral program at an accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in one of these fields of study: nursing, public health, medicine, psychology, computer science, and engineering.

  • Experience working with pregnant women, children and adolescents.

  • Proof of completion of internship program

Desired or preferred:

  • Proven experience and familiarity with technology decision support

  • Fluency/Bilingual skills in Spanish.

  • Must have transportation to Anschutz Medical Campus and Denver Health for data collection.

  • Must complete CITI training for the protection of human subjects.

  • Must be comfortable conducting an interview in Spanish and translating transcript into English.
