The School of Medicine, Psychiatry Department, has an opening for a part-time (28 hours/week with opportunities to expand to 40 hours/week) University Staff (unclassified) *Postdoc Training Coordinator position. *

_Nature of Work_

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support for the teaching and/or educational service mission of the university. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

The Postdoc Training Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and coordination of the postdoctoral training programs in the Department of Psychiatry. Currently there are two post-doc programs, the Harris Infant Mental Health program and the Developmental Psychobiology Research Group (DPRG) T32 funded program. This position will be responsible for each of these two programs as well as the development of potential additional training programs as the department grows. The Postdoc Training Coordinator will work with the Postdoc Training Manager the Chair and Vice Chairs of the department and training programs to provide high quality training and to develop new and innovative opportunities.


Harris Programhas 3-4 full time fellows and 3-4 community fellows per year: Assisting with day to day administrative duties of the Harris Infant Mental Health Postdoctoral Fellowship, including annual recruitment, position and time management for postdoctoral fellows and Harris faculty, management of course schedules and calendars, aiding in onboarding/training materials, event planning for recruitment/orientation, supply purchasing, and additional administrative duties.

Knowledge of programs such as Endnote as well as knowledge of the CU research and regulatory rules and regulations is preferred. This role will also be expected to maintain current knowledge of Federal, State, CU Medicine, and UCD Human Resources and employment policies and procedures, including FMLA, ADA, Worker’s Compensation, Extended Leave, and any other pertinent regulations, to ensure compliance in department employment practices and to assist faculty and staff with questions related to these regulations.

DPRG Programhas 6 funded trainees per year and is in its 40thtraining year:

The Postdoc Training Coordinator is responsible for aiding in the recruitment and selection process, onboarding of new Fellows, maintaining the Fellowship bi-weekly seminars, aiding in grant progress reporting and resubmissions, and data management.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is $37,937 - $49,697 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience.

_Minimum Qualifications:_

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • One (1) year of professional level experience working in an academic or business environment.

_Conditions of Employment:_

Must be willing and able to work 28 hours/week with opportunities to expand to 40 hours/week.

_Substitution_: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience with finance related duties: budget management, gathering and analyzing data to prepare reports

  • Experience utilizing technology that support business operations in higher education (HCM or related HRIS systems, eProcurement system, CU SIS , CU Market Place, CU M-Fin reports etc.).


  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
