Postdoctoral Fellow in Medicinal Chemistry

A full-time postdoctoral fellow position in Medicinal Chemistry/Organic Chemistry is available in the laboratory of Dr. Philip Reigan. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual with a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry to join our medicinal chemistry program as a Post-doc Medicinal Chemist. The research involves the chemical synthesis of small molecules candidate therapeutics in a highly collaborative environment with state-of-the-art facilities. The researcher will design, synthesize, and perform initial evaluation of novel small molecules with an aim to optimize the selectivity, potency, pharmacokinetics, and in vivo efficacy of potential drug candidates.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and will follow the NIH compensation scale for postdoctoral fellows. The position is eligible for individual and dependent health care plans that include medical, dental, disability, and life insurance benefits. Minimum Qualification: The applicant must have (or expect to obtain shortly) a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in computational-based drug design software platforms, microwave technology, flash purification systems, and biochemical assay techniques.

Highly desirable additional qualifications include, a track record of productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem solving and analytical skills; excellent scientific expertise in organic synthesis including multi-step synthesis, compound purification, and structural characterization; the ability to design and adapt synthetic routes to obtain target compounds and support structure-activity studies; the ability to champion chemistry efforts from initiation to achieve project milestones; excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to maintain excellent documentation of their work; and a highly motivated self-starter who is able to work effectively independently and as part of a team is highly desired.
