The Charles C. Gates Center for Regenerative Medicine has an opening for a full-time Process Development Associate III or Associate Scientist at the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility. The Gates Biomanufacturing Facility is an academic cGMP facility dedicated to the development and manufacture of novel cell-therapy and protein-based therapies for early phase human clinical trials. This position will be responsible for developing, scaling-up, and implementing purification processes related to protein-based therapeutics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Full-time position at the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility located nearby the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus

  • Develop and implement/E. coli/protein purification processes

  • Direct scale-up of protein purification processes to the cGMP suites

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain processing equipment, facilities, and supplies. This will include routine handling and lifting of laboratory supplies and bench-top equipment and regular cleaning of facility, supplies, and equipment.

  • Document manufacturing using Good Documentation Practices

  • Maintain laboratory notebooks, cGMP documents, logs, and computer databases

  • Manage tasks to meet project expectations related to timelines, budget, and quality

  • Provide exceptional customer service to users of the facility

  • Work in a professional and collaborative manner with coworkers and prospective users

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology) minimum 5 years’ experience or equivalent

  • Significant protein-related chromatography process development experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • A team-oriented, self-starter capable of operating independently in a start-up environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AKTA equipment/software, particularly AKTA Pure and Pilot

  • Experience with inclusion body based solubilization, refolding, and purification techniques

  • Experience working in a cGMP manufacturing setting related to biological drugs intended for human use, including work in ISO Class 7 and 8 rooms and ISO Class 5 biosafety cabinets

  • Experience operating and maintaining processing equipment
