The University of Colorado seeks a full-time Professional Research Assistant to work in the Department of Pediatrics - Section of Nutrition at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. The overall goal of this research is to investigate the role of nutrition and diet on infant growth and development. The Section of Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is home to faculty members conducting research that spans basic science, clinical trials and behavioral and implementation sciences across the field of nutrition. This position will be supporting a variety of research protocols that investigate epigenetics, genomics, metabolism, inflammation and nutritional assessments in mother-infant pairs.
_Examples of Work Performed:_
-Recruitment and screening study participants, conduct study visits.
-Biospecimen handling, including biorepository maintenance.
-Conduct literature reviews.
-Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental findings.
-Analyze and summarize experimental results.
-Coordinate and contribute to abstracts, conference presentations, and manuscripts.
-Dietary data entry and database maintenance.
-General laboratory duties as assigned.
-Support submission of materials for human subjects review and approval.
-Implementation of various research studies including creation of data forms; manuals of operation; procurement, shipment, and receipt of research supplies and biospecimen.
-Bachelor's degree in biology, nutrition, chemistry or a related field.
-A minimum of 1-year research experience working on Nutrition related projects.
-Experience performing immunoassays.
-Ability to operate various types of instrumentation.
-Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice and Good Laboratory Practice guidelines.
-Evidence of scholarly activity such as authorship on scientific presentations or publications.
-Experience with graphing, statistical analysis and reference software packages.
-Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills
-Ability to work independently and as team member
-Capacity to think critically to troubleshoot assays
-Competency to learn new laboratory techniques
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Attention to detail
-Ability to support initial and continuing approval of research protocols
-Ability to write technical reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts
-Knowledge of various dietary data collection tools and analyses
-Strong working knowledge of nutrient composition of foods and food groups classifications at the population and individual levels
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
