Professional Research Assistant

The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has just welcomed their new Department Chair, C. Neill Epperson, MD and is in the process of growing the Department of Psychiatry with new programs and expanding existing programs.
Position Summary: The PRA will aid in the collection and processing of biological samples, data quality control and management, and human subjects screening and research visit coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting with study participant recruitment, screening, and scheduling
Leading study visits including informed consent
Administering urine and breathalyzer tests, performing blood draws
Conducting self-report tasks with study participants
Completing data management and quality control tasks
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $35,500 to $40,500.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, life sciences, physiology, or other related field
Experience conducting human subjects research appointments and eligibility screenings
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Phlebotomy certification or equivalent
Experience handling biohazardous materials such as human blood, stool, and saliva samples
REDCap project design and management
Literacy in R/RStudio, SPSS, statistical analyses
Wet lab experience (Extraction of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from whole blood, qPCR, real time PCR, sandwich and bead-based ELISA, Flow Cytometry)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Capable of working effectively and respectfully with participants who have diagnosed substance use disorders and a variety of backgrounds, lifestyles, and personalities.
Ability to work collaboratively with study staff, postdoctoral researchers, undergraduates, principal investigators, and other laboratories
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends
Excellent communication skills as the person in this role will have to regularly communicate with their supervisors as well as clients within the department and representatives from other entities within the University.
Outstanding customer service skills, organizational skills, detail-oriented, and time/project management
Demonstrated ability to independent thinking, problem solving, proactive in resolving issues, and manage priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn new skills, synthesize and apply knowledge from different disciplines
