Job Summary:

The Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine is seeking an energetic, full-time Professional Research Assistant for research evaluating alcohol abuse, acute respiratory failure, psychological distress, and long term recovery in critically ill patients. Additionally, our team conducts research regarding burnout and post-traumatic stress among healthcare workers. The person in this position will work closely with a team of investigators and professional research assistants in order to enroll patients in inpatient and community environments, involves interacting with a diverse patient population in a variety of settings and involves both clinical and lab based work. Successful candidates will be comfortable engaging with inpatients, family members, healthcare providers and others in a variety of settings.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Collaborating with principal investigators, co-investigators to enroll clinical trial participants with acute respiratory failure and critical illness in an ICU and community settings.

  • Conducting study visits

  • Ensuring compliance with best policy and procedures for conducting clinical trials

  • Screen, consent and enroll study participants

  • Collect, process and store research samples and data

  • Collect and report all study adverse events

  • Provide participant education and follow-up per protocol guidelines

  • Participation in weekly investigator lab meetings

  • Prepare and submit regulatory and institutional review board documentation.

  • Abstract data from participant electronic medical records.

The PRA will be supervised by the Research Manager and report directly to the Principal Investigator.
