This full-time Professional Research Assistant position is a faculty research position with primary duties to conduct research and is not involved in the instructional program. This position will work on a project investigating the role of platelet activation in the pathogenesis of pulmonary vascular disease in the setting of acute lung injury. Senior PRA rank will be considered for candidates who meet the Senior PRA qualifications which include a Master's Degree
_Examples of Work Performed:_
-Perform experiments including cell culture, ELISA, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, flow cytometry, protein work, biochemical assays, and small animal work
-Maintain accurate database
-Participate in data analysis
-Project management with record keeping, organization of protocols, oversee tissue bank relevant to work
-Supervise trainees (students)
-BS or BA degree in biology or related field
-Minimum 3 years Biomedical research experience
-Senior PRA rank will be considered for candidates who meet the Sr PRA qualifications, including a masters degree or related experience
-Prior research experience in platelet biology laboratory
-Prior research experience in pulmonary vascular biology laboratory
-Animal handling experience
-Expertise in cell culture of primary cell lines
-Expertise in isolation of pulmonary vascular cells
-Proficient in ELISA, Western blot
-Ability to run Protein and RNA isolation and analysis
-Skilled in Immunohistochemistry
-8 years research experience
-Troubleshooting skills for new laboratory skills
-Ability to keep excellent records
-Ability to work collaboratively
-Ability to effectively troubleshoot
-Ability to work efficiently
_Conditions of Employment:_
-Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
-Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check
