The Department of Pediatrics has an opening for a full-time (1.0FTE) Professional Research Assistant (PRA) position in the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) CTRC Core Laboratory of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CCTSI).

Job Summary:

This is a full-time (1.0FTE) Professional Research Assistant (PRA) position in the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) CTRC Core Laboratory of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CCTSI). The CCTSI provides research and training infrastructure as well as core technology resources designed to enhance clinical and basic sciences, promote research excellence, and train the next generation of clinical/translational scientists.

The purpose of the position is to support and later perform high complexity chemistry laboratory analyses such as UPLC and ELISA; along with body fluid processing, cell counts, and differentials in a CAP accredited Clinical Research Laboratory. Administrative tasks also to include, but are not limited to, patient sample management, consumable inventory, and result reporting.

Job Duties:

  • Patient sample management

  • Processing result tests and data entry

  • Instrument and equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Perform laboratory related assays based on daily workload schedules

-ELISA

  • Sample processing

  • Cell counts and differentials

  • Automated instrumentation (immunomephelometry, chemiluminescence)

  • UPLC

  • Assay validation

  • Quality Control and general quality assurance

  • Reagent and quality control preparation

  • Utilize and understand safety guidelines regarding biohazardous materials and chemical handling

  • Day-to-day administrative tasks for the CHCO Core Laboratory

  • Other duties as requested by the Lab Manager

Salary and Benefits

The hiring salary for this position is $35,000 - $40,000 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills, experience and service with the University of Colorado.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or directly related field

Conditions of Employment

  • Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check

*Preferred Qualifications *

  • Prior experience developing standard laboratory procedures

  • Prior experience with sputum processing

  • ASCP Certified (American Society of Clinical Pathology)
