*Nature of Work: *
The Professional Research Assistant will be part of the Division of Geriatric Medicine, specifically in the IMAGE group. This position is a faculty research position with primary duties to conduct research in cardiac, vascular, metabolism, aging, gender and exercise. This position is not involved in the instructional program. This is a full-time, benefited position. The incumbent is not eligible for tenure and this is an at-will position meaning an employee can be terminated at any time without notice and severance pay may not be provided.
The incumbent will work under the supervision or at the direction of the Director of the IMAGE group and/or other researchers in the lab, including Principal Investigators, Professors, Associate and Assistant Professors.
*Examples of work performed:*
Duties include coordinate and implement recruitment plans, phone screening, scheduling, and orientation of volunteers for research studies as well as for participants enrolled in a clinical exercise program, Gerofit, for older Veterans;
Conduct and analyze outcomes of clinical and research procedures, including but not limited to assessments of physical function, body composition, exercise capacity;
Prescribe and supervise individualized exercise training programs; perform data entry, quality control of research data, and data management.
_Salary and Benefits:_
The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualified applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in exercise and/or applied physiology or a related discipline and experience in the research field.
Incumbent must be certified in the performance of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation within 6 months of hiring and maintain certification throughout employment at the exercise research lab.
*Preferred Qualifications: *
Master’s degree and/or previous research experience strongly preferred.
Strong skills and knowledge of various Microsoft Windows applications is highly desirable.
This is a full-time position with varying/flexible work hours, including some evening and/or weekend shifts.
The main work site will be the IMAGE group’s Exercise Research Lab located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.
The incumbent may have to work or visit other sites/campuses associated with the University of Colorado Denver, including the Rocky Mountain VA Medical Center, as well as other recruitment venues (health fairs, neighborhood gatherings, churches, recreation centers, etc.).
_Essential Functions: _
The incumbent must be able to lift at least 15 pounds, and able to sit or stand for more than 1 hour at a time.
Incumbent must be able to hold phone receiver/wear headset for long periods of time.
