Professional Research Assistant

The Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Diabetes in the School of Medicine on the Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a full-time Professional Research Assistant to maintain and conduct animal studies and husbandry, perform/in vitro/assays of various directions and cell lines, run and maintain specialized instrumentation, maintain records of collected data and analysis, and present data and other relevant information in laboratory meetings.
_Examples of Work Performed_
The PRA will work with animal models. He/she will perform animal survival and non-survival surgeries, collect tissues and samples from animals for vascular function and mitochondrial measurements; process tissues for protein isolation or immunohistochemistry; conduct Western blot, and ELISA assays; conduct cell culture studies; conduct and help with reactive oxygen species measurement; conduct microscopy as necessary. The applicant will be involved in experimental design and data analysis. Additionally, the applicant will be expected to work as part of a team and manage responsibilities accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications:* *BA/BS degree in Science.
Preferred Qualifications:* *1-2 years of laboratory experience. * *Experience in handling animals and performing both in vivo and in vitro studies.
_Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities_
Experience performing experiments with mice and rats is preferred, as well as knowledge of basic anatomy, cell culture, and laboratory techniques.
