Study Coordinator/ Professional Research Assistant Position

The Barbara Davis Center (BDC) has an opening for a full-time Study Coordinator/Professional Research Assistant. This position will support NIH and foundation funded studies examining complications of type 1 diabetes in adult patients, focusing on heart disease. We are looking for an organized, professional individual with an interest in medical research to coordinate the grants supporting this complications research program. The duties of this position are as follows:
Study Planning/Coordination: Plan study protocols and maintain study compliance:
Develop research study protocols and consent forms
Submit research protocols to oversight/scientific boards for approval
Work with outside contractors to ensure study procedures are followed
Conduct periodic research meetings to review study status
*Data Collection for Research Study Visits: *
Performing data collection according to instructions in the study manual of operations, including:
Measuring blood pressure, performing venipuncture, measuring height, weight, waist and hip circumferences
Processing blood samples and performing pregnancy tests within time frames as outlined in the instructions
Performing electrocardiograms and non-invasive vascular studies (training and certification will be provided by the study)
Interviewing patients using structured interview to obtain medical history, insulin record if diabetic, and a list of current medications.
Management of Research Study Staff and Recruitment/Scheduling: *
Supervise a team of research study staff that includes PRAs and student workers/interns
Train staff on study visit procedures, vascular measures and phlebotomy
Perform study scheduling as needed to meet study milestones and coordinate with medical facilities for research services
Maintain staffing levels to ensure coverage for study visits as needed (weekends, covering vacation time, etc.)
Validate, analyze and maintain quality control of research study data collection, including reviewing staff collection of vascular study measures (carotid IMT, pulse wave velocity) and periodically re-training as needed and reviewing data entry for errors.
Track study subject participation
Grant management: Maintain financial records for grants, pay vendors and ensure compliance with grant management rules.

Experience in medical research and diabetes is a plus.
Experience with phlebotomy, performing electrocardiograms, and vascular measures such as carotid intima-media thickness and pulse wave velocity/analysis highly desirable.
The hours are full-time, Monday through Friday with occasional weekend hours required.
