*Job Summary: *
The Department of Emergency Medicine has an opening for a self-motivated, hardworking, efficient Research Program Manager/Senior Research Assistant/Research Scientist. This position will work with an individual investigator in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus.
The principal investigator (Dr. Nee-Kofi Mould-Millman, MD) conducts research related to (emergency) trauma care in resource-constrained settings internationally. Current project areas in the principal investigator’s (PI’s) portfolio of work include: clinical interventions to improve patient outcomes; methods to accurately recognize/diagnose traumatic conditions; and epidemiologic studies that characterize exposures and outcomes amongst injured populations. These studies occur in prehospital (i.e. ambulance) systems and in-hospital settings, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, with a current focus on South Africa.
This will be a collaborative position with opportunity to shape research questions and methods. New PhD or experienced MS or MPH graduates from research-related disciplines and behavioral health disciplines are encouraged to apply.
The main duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Program Manager duties:*
o Maintain detailed understanding of PI’s project portfolio
o Closely monitor and coordinate the PI’s project portfolio
o Build strong personal relationships with PI’s portfolio personnel
o Coordinate and supervise students, research assistants, & international personnel
o Serve as liaison between PI and collaborators
o Schedule and coordinate meetings relevant to portfolio work
o Develop, revise, update research documents (e.g. protocols, instruments, progress reports)
o Develop and track portfolio budgets (coordinate with other financial personnel)
o Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements of institutional and federal guidelines
o Travel to domestic and international research sites to assist and supervise portfolio work (<10% annually)
o Travel to domestic and international meetings to support PI, participate, or present portfolio work (<10% annually)
Senior research assistant duties:
o Assist with research duties (e.g. implement protocols, collect data, enroll subjects, etc.)
o Conduct literature searches/reviews
o Assist with data analysis (interim/final)
o Assist with preparation & submission of manuscripts, abstracts, presentations
o Opportunities will be made available to present work at conferences/meetings
o Assisting with grant preparation and submission
Research scientist duties:*
o Understand gaps and objectives in PI project portfolio topic areas
o Co-develop (with PI) research approaches to provide answers/solutions
o Help PI to plan, execute, troubleshoot, oversee/direct launched studies
o Assess, analyze, and interpret outcomes (with PI)
o Co-author sections of scientific reports and manuscripts (with PI supervision)
_Salary and Benefits:_
The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Master’s degree in research-related discipline, or health sciences degree (e.g. nursing degree) with clinical experience as an allowable substitute
Experience managing teams, projects, or programs
Scientific writing experience, such as peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, or reports
Proficient knowledge of computer-based tools (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Database management and analysis skills
PhD degree in research-related biomedical dicipline
Public health or behavioral health background
Global health experience
Biostatistics experience (basic, inferential statistics)
Qualitative research experience
Experience with developing and maintaining standard operating procedure documents
Knowledge and experience with institutional review board applications
1 years’ experience with project management
Experience developing and tracking study budgets
Ability to work some holidays and weekends
