Senior Clinical Instructor- Forensic Psychiatrist

The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has just welcomed their new Department Chair, C. Neill Epperson, MD and is in the process of growing the Department of Psychiatry with new programs and expanding existing programs.

Position Summary:

Forensic Psychiatrist will work with the Forensic Psychiatry Program and Forensic Fellowship Training Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative leadership and direct service in successfully completing the terms of the Department’s contract with OBH Forensic Division/Court Services that requires completion of 75 competency and 10 other forensic examinations and reports

  • Supervision and teaching of forensic psychiatry fellows, general psychiatry residents on elective rotations with the forensic program, and medical students on elective rotations with the forensic program.

  • Participate in all faculty committee activities including biannual meetings of the Program Evaluation Committee and Clinical Competency Committee (Milestone Assessment).

  • Provide seminars or lectures to forensic psychiatry fellows and general psychiatry residents at the request of the Forensic Program Director.

  • Participate in faculty development activities.

  • Work with the Forensic Program Director in development of the forensic psychiatry medical-legal clinic

  • Provide consultation when requested to other programs and entities within the Department of psychiatry and CMHI-Ft Logan requiring forensic expertise including risk assessment, diagnostic clarity, and treatment and management second opinions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD, CO Physician License or Eligible for CO Physician License

  • Board Certified, Eligible, or Eligible by the time of hire in Psychiatry

  • Must have prior experience in a Psychiatric setting, having completed an academic/residency program and related experience highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

  • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations to community audiences.

  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment.
