The Department of Anesthesiology has an opening for a part-time, per diem (hourly) Anesthesiologist at the faculty rank of Senior Clinical Instructor. The chief responsibility of the department is to assure the best possible outcomes for our patients having surgical operations, painful invasive procedures, and childbirth. The University of Colorado affiliated hospitals have top, nationally recognized physicians delivering the best possible anesthetic care as well as a full range of perioperative care. The anesthesiologist provides specialized care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The attending anesthesiologist administers care alone, which requires the individual to examine the patient before and after anesthesia, write pre and post anesthesia orders, confirm that the patient is ready for anesthesia before induction, manage the anesthetic period, and follow the patient as long as is appropriate in the post anesthesia period. As an attending anesthesiologist, the candidate will be required to perform these services in the operating room only. Except in specific emergency situations, the administration of anesthesia is limited to areas where anesthesia can be given safely. One or more attendings will be available at all times to provide these services. This position is per diem (hourly, part-time) and will be able to pick up vacant or available shifts at the University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus, Children's Hospital Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus, or any affiliated hospital locations on a month-to-month basis. Shift availability is determined by the Department. When shifts become available, the per diem attending will be notified and will have the option of picking up the shift or passing on the shift. All shifts will be at least eight hours. This position will not be eligible to pick up C1 call shifts. The candidate must have a strong working and theoretical knowledge of Anesthesiology and Peri-operative Medicine. All attending anesthesiologists must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado. All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiologists ("board eligible") or a Diplomat of the Board, or to be holding certification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
