Jobs in this career family provide general business operations of the organization or a combination of operational responsibilities covering multiple career families. Functions include institutional research, statistical analysis, policy development and review, strategic planning and broad unit business operations such as parking and transportation services, risk management, childcare services, real estate and property management, retail services or job responsibilities that combine fiscal, HR and operational management responsibilities.

The Colorado School of Public Health is seeking applications for a part-time (non-classified) position. This position will provide tobacco control training and technical assistance to local health agencies statewide. This will include providing technical assistance and training to community grantees in an effort to build their capacity to mobilize stakeholders to engage and affect public policy and/or systems/environmental change to reduce the impact of tobacco and nicotine addiction in their communities. The position will serve as a subject matter expert related to tobacco prevention. The position shall demonstrate progressive success in the policy arena. This position will be a member of the Center for Public Health practice team. This position will not supervise any staff.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Develop and implement learning opportunities for grantees statewide, opportunities could include focused learning communities, tailored micro-learning experiences and in person trainings these shall be derived across a wide variety of relevant learning modalities (zoom, canvas, in-person)

  • Handle highly complex projects and timelines across a range of community grantees across the state in various stages of development and implementation.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert related to tobacco prevention to communities grantees across the state. Provide information and resources to community grantees to increase their knowledge of tobacco control best practices, relevant data, and current literature.

  • Integrate, apply and share knowledge, tactics and interventions directly related to public policy change strategies and organizational policy change strategies that are consistent with best practices.

  • Provide guidance and increase community grantees capacity to form, build and mobilize strategic community coalitions that will advance systems and environmental change initiatives.

  • Provide guidance and increase community grantees capacity to engage community leaders, local elected officials, city and county staff, and youth in tobacco control efforts to improve the policy environment, change social norms, and reduce smoking initiation and consumption and reduce nicotine addiction in their communities.

  • Function at an advanced professional level demonstrating excellent analytical skill and good judgment

  • Advise on training content and the development of resources for community grantees, and support ongoing dialogue and engagement activities.

  • Monitor and report on new trends and innovation in tobacco control best practices, industry activity and local and organizational policy trends

The salary range for this position has been established and is commensurate with experience. The range is $30,000 to $39,000 @ 60%. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting , education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

  • 3 years experience working in health related field such as public health.

The position requires extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience at the management level, including direct responsibility for project implementation and community outreach and engagement.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree.

  • Experience in tobacco control, health policy, community mobilizing, and youth engagements

  • 2 years of professional experience in tobacco control and health policy work

  • Proficient computer skills in MS office applications.
