The purpose of this position is to provide analysis, repair, design, programming, maintenance and overall management of the Universities’ building automation system (Andover System) (Automatic Logic) Encelium lighting and IT’s network. The Building Automation Specialist studies, evaluates, and recommends architecture protocols, standards & hardware. The position writes new programs and analyzes existing programs to maintain efficient system performance and energy savings.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Serve as the HVAC Shop technical authority in support of the daily operation of the building automated systems (BAS) and the HVAC system operations throughout Housing and Dining.
Responsible for providing on the job training, providing oversight, assisting in solving faults and verifying repairs have been made appropriately.
Provide technical knowledge and guidance to the Shop’s employees to refine existing structures, develop new programs, improve alarms to verify the buildings HVAC systems are operating accurately and efficiently.
Act as a primary point of contact in communicating with Housing Customers when faults become known as well as communicating with the HVAC Shop Supervisor the urgency in which a technician needs to address a problem.
Conduct an analysis of the fault within the building automation system to verify if a technician response on site is necessary to resolve the fault and remains available to answer any questions which may arise from the technician.
Support projects of all type including controlled maintenance, in-house, deferred maintenance (DM) and capital projects.
Work with consultants, contractors, Housing Engineer, and Housing project managers for advice, review and technical direction to ensure the scope, design, construction, final operation and control of building mechanical systems are in line with the existing BAS network architecture and standard sequence of operation as outlined in the UCB standards.
While the HVAC technicians or Pipe Mechanical Trades II positions perform the actual test and verification procedures for construction projects, this position defines the specific procedures and methods that are followed in the field. Within this function this position will collaborate with Housing Facilities.
Strong understanding of HVAC Systems and associated equipment.
This includes, but not limited to, multi-zone units, VAV systems, VAV with reheats, dual duct systems, constant volume with reheats, constant and variable flow heating and chilled water systems, Delta P valves, steam systems, chillers, flat plate cooling, cooling towers, boilers (steam and hot water), and process cooling water systems.
Analyze, tackle and maintain fiber-based network for the campus building automation system (Andover).
This includes testing fiber, network switches, media converters and all other integral components of the system.
Must maintain a detailed working knowledge of the Andover network system and the effect of any new installations or modifications may have to the existing network.
Construction Review and Design
Review construction documents for Control systems.
Work with consulting engineers and vendors to prepare sequences of operation and design on new installations and retrofits.
Establish points list and Andover panel layouts.
Writes new programs, analyzes and troubleshoots existing programs, builds and manages alarms, develops trends for buildings or sub-systems, and is directly responsible for the operation and management of the operational database.
Maintain and work with Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 server, SQL 2003, Microsoft.NET, Arc Serve, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
Work with proprietary Andover control software continuum, WebClient and Firmware Drivers such as ModBus, BACNet, LONWorks, Etc.

What We Require
Four years of technical experience repairing, performing maintenance, installing, modifying, calibrating, certifying and fabricating equipment and facilities related to the work assignment.
Equipment and facilities may be primarily telecommunications equipment and facilities, media equipment and facilities, precision measuring equipment, or other electronic equipment and facilities.
Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
