The Center for Student Involvement at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for the Coordinator for Student Engagement position! This role is part of the student engagement team that creates a vibrant and engaging campus community in which each student feels a sense of belonging. This position supports student centered programming and events through the direct management of 3-5 programming areas within the Center for Student Involvement portfolio. The Coordinator plays a key role in the management of student organizations by serving as a liaison to student organizations, advising student boards, and providing supervision for 1-3 student employees. This is a position that engages with all levels of staff and is expected to work a schedule which includes regular evenings, late-night, and weekend hours.

The Division of Student Affairs consists of 30 departments that provide student support and services dedicated to helping students become successful, curious, competent individuals during their time at CU Boulder. The work in Student Affairs supports all factors of the student experience, no matter what department a staff member may work in. This includes where students live, eat, make friends, build professional skills and find help if they need it. Many departments provide involvement opportunities, educational resources and support services to help students find their community and build lifelong skills. Student Affairs also has shared services departments that support the work and staff of our student-facing areas, including areas like assessment, business services, financial planning, human resources, marketing communications and information technology (IT).With over 800 staff members in the Division of Student Affairs, our diverse team is uniquely positioned to personalize the student experience and advocate for students, enhancing their success inside and outside the classroom.The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) helps students build vibrant, engaging and safe communities on campus. This student-fee funded unit is a collaborative team providing multifaceted opportunities and resources for students to get involved on campus through programming, student organization support and student employment. CSI coordinates the over 500 recognized student organizations on campus and assists students in creating new organizations that match their interests. Annually, CSI puts on over 200 campus events to help students connect, explore their interests and have fun. Students can also participate in various programs within CSI to develop leadership skills, gain professional experience, enhance cultural awareness and more.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Student Engagement & Programming

  • Directly responsible for 3-5 regular programming areas/series within CSI.

  • Develop and assess student learning and program outcomes for all student engagement/programming initiatives. Use data to inform and improve program offerings.

  • Work collaboratively with campus partners that support and work with student engagement and programming initiatives.

Student Board Advising

  • Serve as the advisor for 1-2 student boards directly supported and/or advised by the Center for Student Involvement (examples include Program Council, Distinguished Speakers Board, Cultural Events Board, Senior Class Council, and Homecoming Coalition).

  • Advise the board(s) on logistics of large scale events and provide orientation and training to new or incoming student leaders.

  • Assist the board(s) in operations, budgeting, and annual budget requests from student government or other funding sources.

Student Organizations

  • Serve as a staff liaison to the University for Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs).

  • Serve as a resource to student organizations by applying student development theory to supporting RSOs in event planning, risk management, and budgetary advising.

  • Assist in RSO training efforts throughout the year.

Human Resource Management

  • Supervise 1-3 student employees and multiple student leaders in volunteer positions.

  • Assist or lead the processes to recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff within the student engagement portfolio.

  • Supervise staff and collaborate with the employee to set goals for performance that contribute to CSI's goals and vision.

  • Ensure that all federal, state, university, and departmental hiring procedures are followed.

Financial Oversight

  • Provide oversight of an annual budget of approximately $300,000+ in funds for student events and programs.

  • Assist in the annual budget process as a staff member within a cost center of CU Student Government.

  • Maintain accurate budget expenditure records and plans for future contingency funds.

  • Administer all fiscal processes with maximum integrity and timeliness.

  • Follow all federal, state, university, and departmental budget procedures.

Departmental Support and Responsibilities

  • Staff additional events, committee appointments, assisting CSI in planning informational programming, facilitating presentations, etc.

What You Should Know

  • This job will lead Late Night programs, so the expectation will be that this position works Friday and Saturday as part of this role. Though the CSI Office operates from 8-5 p.m. weekdays, this role will work outside of those hours to support departmental needs.

  • This is a predominantly in-person position with certain opportunities for remote work.
