University of Colorado Boulder Student Affairs IT (SAIT) encourages applications for an Electronics Specialist III . Under the supervision of and working with the Integrated Security Manager, this position is a key member of the department's security team from both a technical and policy perspective. Duties include ensuring that access control systems are managed, maintained and kept current, providing training and end-user support for 30 access control clients' stations, recommending access policy changes for users of access control and video monitoring systems for SAIT.Additionally, this position is responsible for day to day access control service issues, addressing customer related access control requests, assisting with lock and locking plan troubleshooting, electronic and mechanical locksmith support, being a point of contact for contractors and project personnel in need of building access and project locking template administration, and serves as a backup system administrator for HDS's IP Video, C-Cure and Salto systems managed and maintained by HDS IT. This includes 10,000 on-line and off-line electronic locks, 5,000 metal key locks, 450 IP cameras and 24 security database servers. Student Affairs Information Technology (SA IT) provides technology leadership and support to the Division of Student Affairs. Staff have the knowledge and understanding of student and staff needs, in addition to technical expertise-making SA IT a trusted partner to Student Affairs departments. SA ITs dedication, responsiveness and commitment allow them to meet customers evolving needs and work collaboratively to serve students.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Milestone Video Monitoring Systems

  • Administrative responsibilities for the Milestone IP Video monitoring system as it relates to installing, managing and repairing cameras and video DVRs and NVRs.

  • Create and document information used for camera set up, image capture and video monitoring.

  • Respond to video IP camera issues across the department.

  • Coordinate with the integrated security manager on system aspects related to strategic direction and policy creation for IP Video system management.

  • Help to ensure video integrity for the video monitoring system through the performance of weekly, monthly and annual video system reviews and administrative system maintenance as needed.

Salto System Maintenance, Repair and Backup Administration

  • Administrative responsibility for managing and maintaining the Salto offline access control system.

  • Design, plan, and estimate security projects that need Salto, while training customers in the use and operation of this system.

  • Responsible to review all integrated security "support tickets" and will respond to all Salto locking or programming issues as needed to address each support ticket.

  • Create and document information for training Salto locking customers, for repairing, programming, maintaining and installing Salto locks.

  • Help to ensure door and lock specifications, user requirements, recommendations from Housing Facilities Services, SAIT and FACMAN, industrial and technical standards, current technological products are followed.

  • Act as technical liaison for department in coordination of communicating proper template usage, installation of locking hardware, Salto clients and kiosks, while assisting in the development of new access procedures, enforcement of current policies and the training for staff.

  • Ensure locking plan integrity for the Salto system through the performance of weekly, monthly and annual locking plan reviews and system maintenance.

C-Cure System Maintenance, Repair and Backup Administration

  • Administrative system responsibility for the C-Cure online access control system.

  • Design, plan, and estimate security projects using C-Cure for SAIT customers, while training customers in the use and operation of this system.

  • Coordinate with the ISS manager to create and document information for using C-Cure locking clearances and lock installation.

  • Responsible to review all integrated security "support tickets" and alter the operations of the C-Cure system as needed to address each support ticket.

  • Responsible for troubleshooting door and locking problems related to the C-Cure system.

  • Act as professional and technical liaison for department in coordination of communication regarding the proper use of clearances, the guidance for installation of locking hardware and C-Cure clients, enforcement of current access policies and procedures and assisting with training for HDS staff.

  • Ensure locking plan integrity for the C-Cure system through the performance of weekly, monthly, and annual audits and clearance reviews and while keeping system maintained.

Integrated Security Operations and Maintenance

  • Install or supervise installation projects related to access control systems, repair, calibration, and maintenance of various security systems including card readers, panels, wiring, software, IP Video, NVR5, switches and contacts.

  • Lead the integrated security electronic specialist team in day to day operations responsibilities that include staffing the Integrated Security Office, prioritizing service calls and related response to electronic and mechanical locking support calls, and assisting customers with access control related issues.

  • Enforce access control policies and procedures through the use of system reports and key audits. This also includes management of current metal key inventories, key issuance records, lock conversions to electronic access, key and electronic door access audits, and policy management meant to help ensure keys can be accounted for and electronic access is managed properly.

  • Responsible for maintaining Salto and C-Cure equipment inventories and for keeping access control projects on schedule.

Coordination of Access Control Training and Project Support

  • Coordinate training for the other electronic specialists in this group, and other providers for using access control and video system use and support.

  • Coordinate installation of department access control equipment, hardware and software upgrades, and project related equipment moves, removal and relocation.

What You Should Know

  • This position will be on the CU Boulder campus for training for the first 3-months of employment. Following this training period, work modality will be a hybrid modality working both on campus and remotely depending on the needs of the department.

  • This position is part of an on-call rotation.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.

  • Two years of technical experience repairing, performing maintenance, installing, modifying, calibrating, certifying, or fabricating equipment and facilities related to the work assignment. Experience may be primarily with telecommunications equipment and facilities, media equipment and facilities, precision measuring equipment, or other electronics equipment and facilities.

  • Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license and pass a motor vehicle background check.
