Job Summary
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering (CEAE) at CU Boulder is seeking a temporary Field Technician to assist the Hernandez Lab in supporting the Colorado School of Public Health to implement the CDC funded project "Multi-year study to determine the causal link between HEPA-filtered/unfiltered indoor air quality in occupied classroom (K-12) settings and human respiratory disease outcomes." This project aims to determine the relationship between classroom air quality and the persistence of pathogens in occupied elementary school classrooms.
To support this work, our lab will be evaluating ventilation performance and classroom hygiene in Colorado elementary schools by collecting fomite (desktop) samples and analyzing them for biomarkers of the following:
Corona viruses
Influenza viruses
Respiratory Syncytial Viruses

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Participate in in-person training.
Participate in weekly team meetings in field or at CU Boulder campus.
Follow weekly sampling assignments.
Track and update sampling progress.
Collect desktop swabs from assigned schools/classrooms according to the sampling protocol.
Collect selected architectural and air quality data.
Submit collected samples to the field supervisor according to the schedule.
Maintain communication with the field supervisor/program manager.
Proactively identify and communicate issues that may interfere with sampling schedule and protocol.
What We Can Offer
The hourly salary associated with this position is $25.00.

Resides in the Fort Collins metro area.
Interest in environmental engineering or public health-related field.
Access to motor vehicle.
Familiarity with spreadsheets database, such as Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets.
