Job Summary

The Student Affairs Communications team welcomes applications for a Graphic Design, Communication and Marketing Coordinator. The Coordinator will be responsible for designing creative materials for events, campaigns and messaging across a variety of audiences, including students, CU Boulder staff and division personnel. In addition to creating print design, other design materials will include digital signage, web and social platforms.

This individual will assist in supporting the university brand through creation and dissemination of original high-quality marketing materials. They will ensure that all materials are professional, compelling, accurate and conforms to ADA accessibility, university branding and style guidelines. This position requires excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, creativity and communications skills.

Student Affairs Communications is dedicated to creating and implementing strategic communication plans and projects for the Division of Student Affairs. We are a resource for the division and its departments to educate, engage and positively impact the CU Boulder community.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Graphic Design, Communications, and Marketing

  • Coordinate and implement multiple communication and marketing campaigns through a variety of channels including email, social media, digital, print and web platforms.

  • Ensure that all media platforms are fully utilized and coordinated with larger division campaigns by working collaboratively with other members of Student Affairs Communication team.

  • Create, design, review, and deploy communication tactics for a variety of campaigns.

  • Assess communications for effectiveness and engagement.

  • Understand the relationship between design, content, and user experience and therefore adapt content as needed for each medium and audience.

  • Review and edit thoroughly all communication pieces at each phase of the creation and deployment process.

  • Identify appropriate uses for videos and photos in the overarching communication plan.

  • Maintain strong brand identity across all communication and marketing materials.

Communication Liaison

  • Work with departments within the Division of Student Affairs and campus partners to develop and implement materials consistent with strategic initiatives and branding.

  • Remain knowledgeable of industry developments to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities including changes in regulations, technology, and best practices.

  • Attend Student Affairs Communicators meetings regularly to provide project updates and to stay educated on other division priorities and projects.

The anticipated starting salary for this position is $46,000.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Two years of experience in graphic design, including creating content for marketing and communications campaigns.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).

  • Experience creating designs for diverse outlets (digital, print, social media) and audiences.

  • Experience working with team collaborations in a marketing/communications environment.

What You Will Need

  • Exceptional interpersonal, writing, editing and proofreading skills.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design, or a closely related field.

  • Experience using CSS, HTML and/or a content management system, especially Drupal.

  • Experience with web content management systems.

  • Experience with writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Experience with project management tools.

  • Experience working in Higher Ed or student-focused organizations.
