Our goals include, among other campus-wide objectives:
Creation of at least four massive and automated, for-credit, online degrees or certificates
The ability to offer at least 10% of all main campus courses directly online, leading to online degrees.
In this role you will provide direction for the new Online Education Initiative solutions, serving as a key subject-matter expert and providing technical leadership and product delivery for the project. You will be developing a holistic online education solution with attention to system integration and feasibility.
In partnership with CU’s internal business owners, Enterprise Services, and external vendors, you will be responsible for specific application, database, infrastructure and/or online education portfolios and platforms while helping connect the dots among our existing systems, infrastructure and vendor solutions, thereby facilitating an integrated user experience.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
The Online Education Solution Architect will:
Drive successful solution implementation from technology planning, investment decisions, implementation to ongoing operational support for several, highly complex platforms or portfolios.
Identify and accelerate the elimination of applications and infrastructure which are not preferred or viable platforms for the online education initiative.
Be responsible for improving the availability, security, compliance, interoperability, performance, and technology that supports the online education program.
What You Should Know
This is a 3-year appointment. While it may easily be the case that this appointment becomes ongoing, for the present we have dedicated funds only for the first 3 years.

What We Require
A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in computer science, computer information systems, or related field.
A combination of education and/or related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
Five years of professional experience as a solution architect, including knowledge of software and application design and architecture.
Two years of experience in data management and data architecture.

Seek out and synthesize IT and higher education trends into technology investment plans.
Appropriately interact with campus-wide information technologists and end users, including faculty, staff, and students.
Work independently and be proactive to ensure proper availability of systems/services.
Experienced mentoring and influencing others in a matrixed team environment is critical to success.
Ability to provide excellent customer service in resolving highly technical issues in a higher education setting.
What We Would Like You To Have
Five or more years experience in technology solutions engineering, technical infrastructure, or technical operations.
University / Higher Education Experience with both Administrative Offices and Academic teams (Student Administration, Student Affairs, Academic Administration, Online Programs, etc.).
Understanding of, experience with, and a passion for online education systems.
Understanding of software quality assurance principles.
Experience integrating with PeopleSoft systems, such as Campus Solutions.
