Postdoctoral Research Associate
The University of Colorado high energy physics group has openings for two postdoctoral research associate positions to work on the CMS experiment. The CU faculty involved in CMS are John Cumalat, Bill Ford, Kevin Stenson, Keith Ulmer, and Steve Wagner. The group currently participates in tracker and trigger operations, and a variety of physics analyses including searches for supersymmetry, searches for new physics utilizing exotic Higgs signatures, and measurements of rare Z and B decays. The group also plays leading roles in Phase 2 upgrade work on pixel sensor and electronics R&D, and the Phase 2 Level 1 track trigger and correlator trigger upgrades.
The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
Who We Are
The University of Colorado High Energy Physics Group
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
For the first position, the candidate will be expected to play a leading role in the group's activities on the Phase 2 pixel detector upgrade, as well as data analysis related to searches for physics beyond the standard model. While we expect the successful candidate to be initially based in Boulder in order to take on a lead role in managing the sensor testing for the pixel detector, alternate sitings at CERN or Fermilab will be considered if they meet programmatic requirements and the needs of the successful candidate. For inquiries about this position, please contact John Cumalat (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Steve Wagner (email@example.com).
For the second position, the candidate will be expected to play a leading role in the Phase 2 Level 1 trigger upgrade. Experience or interest in firmware and/or machine learning is highly desirable. The successful candidate should also anticipate taking on leading roles in data analysis searching for physics beyond the standard model. Primary locations for the position can potentially include Boulder, CERN, or Fermilab, and is negotiable depending on individual circumstances and specific projects. For inquiries about this position, please contact KeithUlmer (firstname.lastname@example.org).
What You Should Know
The successful candidate would be initially based in Boulder in order to take on a lead role in managing the sensor testing for the pixel detector, but travel is to be expected, including internationally.
