Job Summary

The Anderson Language and Technology Center (ALTEC) welcomes applications for a Program Assistant. ALTEC is a service unit that supports the language learning community at the University of Colorado Boulder and in the state of Colorado. ALTEC’s mission is to broaden and deepen cultural understanding through innovative approaches to language learning and teaching. This position manages the financial and human resources for the center, including supervising student employees. Additionally, the program assistant oversees space reservations and operations including resource management.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Finance

  • Oversee and implement financial management of unit budgets and accounting operations for unit, including operational, revenue-generating, grant, and gift funds.

  • Develop budgets, monitor and reconcile unit expenditures and budgets.

  • Identify and resolve errors through appropriate corrective measures, and initiate transfers, by working with College of Arts and Sciences Financial Service Center.

  • Process purchases and payments by completing, submitting, or creating the appropriate forms on CU Marketplace and through various campus/system fiscal departments.

  • Prepare accounting and travel documents or electronic forms.

  • Prepare budget reports and advise director on budget status.

  • Interpret fiscal policy and advises staff on procurement rules and regulations.

Human Resources

  • Serve as the Payroll & Personnel Liaison for the unit by creating offer letters, submitting honorariums and processing other personnel forms and transactions in consultation with the Human Resources Service Center.

  • Maintain up-to-date personnel files and assists director with staff position updates and hires. Interpret human resources policies and procedures and advises director on personnel rules and regulations.

  • Hire, train, supervise and assign duties to approximately 10-15 student employees.

Space Reservations and Operations

  • Oversee the unit’s spaces including two classrooms, the resource and event room, a recording studio and development room along with meeting spaces and unit offices.

  • This includes supervising space reservations and upkeep, establishing policies on space use and monitoring traffic.

  • Contribute to event management through budget creation, space curation, coordinating catering and organizing other event details as assigned.

Resource Management

  • Recommend and purchase instructional and learning materials along with office supplies and technical equipment from domestic and international vendors.

  • Follow university rules and regulations set by the Procurement Service Center and maintain transaction records.

  • Coordinate faculty purchase requests.

  • Maintain a catalog and inventory of resources and establishes policies regarding resource use and checkout.

Other Tasks as Assigned

  • Assist director and unit staff with special tasks as assigned, such as preparing data reports, contributing to marketing plan, and collaborating with other units on interdisciplinary projects.

What We Can Offer

Salary Range Starts at $48,000 commensurate with experience.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 1 year of administrative services experience including human resources and finance/accounting work.
