Pay Range : $16.22 - $17.00 hourly. This position is dependent on the availability of auxiliary revenues funding. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

Summary

UCCS Dining and Hospitality Services (https://apptrkr.com/get_redirect.php?id=5246023&targetURL=https://diningservices.uccs.edu/) is seeking applications for Cook I positions. The purpose of the UCCS Cook I is to prepare quality food for the UCCS campus community through Residential Dining, Catering, or Retail through the efficient use of supplies, equipment, and services in a sanitary and safe environment according to UCCS Dining and Hospitality Services and El Paso County health specifications.

The ability and willingness to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required. Must be committed to student employment and professional development opportunities for students.

Aligning UCCS Dining and Hospitality with campus sustainability efforts allows for the integration of academic programs and community action, thereby providing students invaluable experiential learning opportunities. This includes preparing and serving healthy, flavorful, sustainable, and nutritious food produced through fiscally responsible and mindful practices that nourish and support our community.

Essential Functions

  • Take orders and provide patrons with quick and courteous service.

  • Prepare customer's order using the proper recipe, portion and technique.

  • Follow proper cooking, storage, and food handling techniques as trained.

  • Prepare and cook food at a variety of platforms including breakfast, salad bar, deli, grill, pizza, dinner entrees and catering events as assigned.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment always.

  • Complete training on all pieces of equipment prior to use.

  • Assemble, disassemble, and clean kitchen equipment.

  • Assist in all phases of set up, service and clean up in operation as needed.

  • May assist in storeroom duties such as receiving orders, rotating stock and inventory.

Tentative Search Timeline

  • The potential dates for interviews with the search committee, supervisor, and appointing authority will be the week of June 3 rd , 2024.

Minimum Qualifications

  • This is an entry level food service culinary position.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employees are required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and have fine motor skills including reaching, handling, and fingering. Must have good depth perception, color vision and field of vision. Tasting and smelling within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 20 lbs and constantly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. In this position employees will have exposure to extreme cold and extreme heat.
