Salary Range : $49,646 - $64,059

Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Summary

The Employment Coordinator leads and coordinates career development for students receiving services from the Office of Inclusive Services (OIS). The Office of Inclusive Services at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs supports students with intellectual disabilities in the academic, residential, social, career, and professional experiences of college life.

This position is a full-time, ongoing position. Some hours will fall outside a typical 9-5 work schedule and may require the coordinator to support students on-campus during evening activities.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Create new community internships and employment opportunities

  • Create new on-campus internships and employment opportunities

  • Cold call businesses in the community and on-campus to build employment relationships

  • Collaborate and coordinate services with governmental agencies

  • Support students in discovering career options

  • Design individual employment supports

  • Support resumé development

  • Teach interview skills

  • Write Division of Vocation and Rehabilitation (DVR) assessment reports

  • Conduct Individual problem-solving meetings with students regarding interviewing and employment

  • Provide job coaching for students in on-campus and community employment

  • Train and oversee job coaches

  • Present at national and regional conferences

  • Assist with regional alliance work

  • Write reports and grants as requested

  • Provide coverage for Student Mentors in the event of an absence

  • Be willing to obtain added training

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding educational information and records

  • Help to maintain a positive academic environment

  • Work as a member of the Office of Inclusive Services team

  • Utilize effective communication and organizational skills

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 1 year of experience working with students with disabilities in inclusive settings

  • At least 3 years of experience collaborating and coordinating services with governmental agencies

  • At least 1 year of experience engaged in professional writing

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to be adaptive and innovative

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

  • At least 2 years of experience working with students with disabilities in inclusive settings

  • At least 3 years of experience working in communities to establish relationships and services for clients

  • At least 3 years of experience in working with teams

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
