Pay Range : $17.50 - $20.00 hourly. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is dependent on the availability of auxiliary revenues funding.

Summary

UCCS Dining and Hospitality Services (https://apptrkr.com/get_redirect.php?id=5299196&targetURL=https://diningservices.uccs.edu/) is seeking applications for Food Service Worker IV positions. Under the supervision of the Retail or Residential Dining Manager, the Food Service Worker IV prepares food and beverages for service through own efforts or through the coordination of assigned student employees for Dining locations on the UCCS campus.

The ability and willingness to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required. Must be committed to student employment and professional development opportunities for students.

Aligning UCCS Dining and Hospitality with campus sustainability efforts allows for the integration of academic programs and community action, thereby providing students invaluable experiential learning opportunities. This includes preparing and serving healthy, flavorful, sustainable, and nutritious food produced through fiscally responsible and mindful practices that nourish and support our community.

Essential Functions

  • Take and prepare customer orders.

  • Assists management in determining the amounts of products on hand and to be ordered.

  • Ensures that sanitary and HACCP procedures are maintained in assigned areas.

  • Maintain health code compliance including, but not limited to, temperatures, safe food handling procedures and proper sanitary restraints and uniforms.

  • Inform immediate supervisor of equipment's repair and maintenance needs.

  • Supervise and train student employees.

  • Operates and maintains the following equipment: coffee and espresso machines, blenders, tea brewers, etc.

  • Operates computerized cash register accurately. Processes sales transactions using appropriate procedures for cash, checks, credit cards and meal plans.

  • Follows and supervises established security procedures for all cash transactions (including initial bank), charge and credit drafts and receipts.

  • Provides visual security to prevent theft. Reports all thefts to the manager on duty immediately.

  • Tabulates daily cash, credit card and meal transactions.

  • Coordinates work assignments of student staff to meet food production and/or presentation deadlines.

  • Provides efficient and creative use of all foods including leftovers.

  • Coordinates and /or sets up all service areas including, but not limited to, beverage (including specialty coffee mixers), salad bar/counter, deli, pizza, entry/exit ways, takeout, bakery, short order, specialty bars and/or dessert areas with equipment and supplies.

Tentative Search Timeline

  • The potential dates for interviews with the search committee, supervisor, and appointing authority will be the week of June 17 th , 2024.

  • The potential employee start date is July 1 st , 2024.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience in food preparation and service environment with at least one year in a supervisory capacity.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employees are required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and have fine motor skills including reaching, handling, and fingering. Must have good depth perception, color vision and field of vision. Tasting and smelling within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 20 lbs and constantly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. In this position employees will have exposure to extreme cold and extreme heat.
