Helen and Arthur E Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences (Beth-El) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is a distinguished and innovative college providing excellence in education, scholarship, and practice in the health professions.

This is a part-time (50%) psych mental health nurse practitioner position that works in a nurse managed clinic at the UCCS Health Circle Primary Care Clinic in the Lane Center for Academic Health Services. This position provides healthcare services to University of Colorado employees and patients with participating health insurance within the Colorado Springs community as directed by the nurse practitioner scope of practice, clinic policies and procedures. The position assists the lead clinician and office manager with other duties as assigned, and may participate in after-hours calls on a rotating basis.

_Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities_:

  • Extensive clinical knowledge of psychiatric mental health and the ability to provide mental health care services, including medication management and counseling, to a variety of behavioral health patients at the UCCS Health Circle Primary Care Clinic.

  • Completes histories, psychiatric examinations and thorough assessments on all patients with appropriate documentation reflected in the medical record.

  • Able to differentiate mental health care situations that require acute and non-acute action and responds accordingly.

  • Triages walk-in urgent mental health care situations and coordinates with emergency medical responders for safe transport to appropriate mental health facilities if deemed necessary.

  • Refers patients requiring behavioral health care that is beyond the scope of the Nurse Practitioner’s practice to other appropriate providers.

  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with the clinic staff, students and community providers to meet the needs of the behavioral health patients being served by the clinic.

  • Ability to provide care to individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Working knowledge of appropriate billing/coding and HIPPA compliance issues.

  • May participate in the call schedule for the Primary Care Clinic.

Salary Range: $52,000 - $57,000

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

_Minimum Requirements_:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing with specialty certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by a national certification agency

  • Current unencumbered Colorado RN licensure and placement on the Advanced Practice Nurse Registry

  • Full prescriptive authority in the state of CO as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

  • Current DEA license
