Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Health Professions Professional/Faculty
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) and the Health Professions Office at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) downtown campus seek to hire a faculty member at open rank who has an established research record that would meet tenure or near-tenure qualifications in one of the departments in CLAS (see list of CLAS departments and programs here:https://clas.ucdenver.edu/departments-interdisciplinary-units). The successful candidate will have experience teaching, research that complements the appointing department and experience working with students in preparation for applying to health professions graduate programs.
In this position, the successful candidate is expected to teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels, maintain an active research program in the area of their expertise, and contribute to a growing and robust Health Professions Advising program. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to mentor students in support of diversity and inclusion. The teaching load for full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty is up to four courses per year, but with 50% responsibility in the Health Professions Advising program, the teaching load in this position will be at most two courses per year.

The University of Colorado Denver is an urban research university comprised of the Denver Campus and the Anschutz Medical Campus. The consolidated university confers more graduate degrees each year than any other higher education institution in Colorado, offering over 130 degree programs in 13 schools and colleges, and brings in over $420 million annually in sponsored research. The Denver Campus is located in downtown Denver on the Auraria Higher Education Center next to a vibrant commercial and cultural district, three major professional sports venues, the Denver Convention Center, the Performing Arts Center, and city and state government offices. This position will be located on the downtown Denver Campus and will work collaboratively with programs on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in any discipline in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, teaching and/or student mentoring experience and a strong record of peer-reviewed publications are required. We encourage faculty with a broad range of health-related research interests to apply. The candidate must be self-motivated, able work collaboratively with faculty members in their department of expertise and throughout the University. The successful applicant must be able to advocate for students and serve as a liaison for the health professions program in the community and other academic settings.
Experience advising pre-health or health professions students, familiarity with the processes for application to health professions programs including writing of personal statements, test preparation, interviewing, and application completion. A record of inclusive mentoring and teaching are highly desirable qualifications. In addition, a record of research that would qualify for tenure within a candidates’s home department is desirable. A candidate with strong interpersonal and communication skills is preferred.
