  • Collaborates with the Procurement Manager, University Counsel, Compliance, and Risk Management teams to support the preparation and negotiation of complex and unique contracts for the University's acquisition of goods and services

  • Reviews and drafts contracts and amendments to protect the University from liability and risk

  • Prioritizes contracts to meet important deadlines

  • Collaborates with University partners to ensure their successes in the classroom, labs, and the community

  • Assists in the development and enhancement of standard processes and incorporates such practices into procurement processes

  • Learns and enhances expertise related to compliance issues, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and information technology (IT) Security and payment card industry (PCI) compliance

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Please ensure your resume includes any and all relevant experience to be accurately assessed against these qualifications. You must meet all minimum requirements listed at the time of application to be considered for this role

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the educational requirement)

  • Three (3) years' of experience drafting, negotiating, and administering contracts, relevant legal experience (law firm, in-house, commercial contracting) and/or experience in a procurement-related environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or post-baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education in legal studies (e.g. Juris Doctorate), or related field, or paralegal certification

  • Five (5) years' experience drafting, negotiating, and administering contracts, and/or legal studies (e.g. Juris Doctorate), or related field, or paralegal certification.

  • Professional experience working in or with an institution of higher education

  • Professional experience working in or with public procurement

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and expertise in legal/contractual concepts, terms and conditions

  • Knowledge of and ability to use various negotiation methods

  • Excellence in oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details clearly

  • Organizational skills, including the ability to set and meet goals and deadlines, manage appointments, build schedules, coordinate and facilitate meetings, and make decisions

  • Computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and learn and experiment with new software and systems
