The Baby Haven Child Care Center located in Southwest Denver (Hampden and Federal) offers high quality childcare and early education for children ages 2 weeks through 5 years. The center is licensed, Colorado Shines level-4 rated, and soon to be an Early Head Start site. The center is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6 pm. Services are provided to children throughout the Denver Metro Area as well as to families associated with Addiction Research and Treatment Services.

The Baby Haven seeks a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Early Childhood Educator in a infant/young toddler classroom. Schedule varies M-F 6:30 am-6 pm (primary shift will be 9:15 am – 5:45 pm). Must also be able to attend:

*evening teacher in-services (minimum once a month)

*evening family partnerships as needed (minimum once a month)

*Saturday in-service or family partnership (minimum quarterly)

_Examples of Work Performed:_

The Lead Teacher will provide direct child care and supportive services to families by: meeting the children’s needs of the all children enrolled at the Baby Haven; cognitive, physical, and social and emotional development; providing an enriching learning environment for infants, toddlers and early preschoolers; following all agency child care, licensing and quality standards; providing developmentally appropriate play to children; following curriculum guidelines; coordinating services with internal and external service providers, child development staff and The Haven treatment team; and communicating to Haven staff about issues related to a child’s health or parenting/behavioral concerns with clients. This position also provides daily, weekly, and quarterly feedback to all families through face to face meetings, family conversations, and quarterly developmental updates.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

Starting hiring range has been approved at the following:

  • $31,200 for new hires who are presently Early Childhood Teacher qualified under current Colorado Childcare Rules and Regulations

  • $33,280 for new hires who are presently Early Childhood Teacher qualified under current Colorado Childcare Rules and Regulations AND who are Early Head Start qualified (currently possess a Child Development Associates or the equivalent per Early Head Start standards)

_Minimum Qualifications: _

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.

  • Must be Early Childhood Teacher qualified under CURRENT State of Colorado Child Care Licensing standards

  • Must have experience providing classroom care for toddlers

  • Verifiable experience in a licensed childcare

_Conditions of Employment:_

  • Must be willing to earn Child Development Associate or equivalent per Early Head Start standards

  • Must agree to fingerprinting and criminal background check . Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) AND the Central Registry of Child Protection (Trails)

  • Subject to pre-employment, post-accident or incident or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing per UCD Addiction Research and Treatment Services Department Policies.

  • Must be willing and able to attend evening teacher in-services (minimum once a month)

  • Must be willing and able to attend evening family partnerships as needed (minimum once a month)

  • Must be willing and able to work Saturday in-service or family partnership (minimum quarterly)

  • Must be willing and able to pass a medical examination

  • Must be willing and able to lift at least 30 pounds on a frequent basis

  • Must be willing and able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, lift and lower children into and out of cribs, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety

_Preferred Qualifications._

  • Use of Creative Curriculum and/or Teaching Strategies Gold

  • Experience in a licensed Colorado Shines rated or Early Head Start program

  • Experience with data entry using Microsoft Office programs

  • Early Head Start Teacher qualified
