The Learning Resources Center has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Program Coordinator position.

The LRC understands that the majority of students today use technology as a learning tool and it is imperative for us to consider and implement different strategies to support student learning in that virtual space. In diligently working to bring learning support services unto the 21st century, the Program Coordinator will serve in a pivotal role by collaborating with the LRC team to rethink and redesign the center’s approach to marketing and outreach so that students and faculty members are better educated on what peer tutoring looks like in practice. Responsibilities include developing and implementing new marketing and outreach strategies/initiatives, such as creating class announcement/promotional videos for the tutoring and SI programs. This position will also be responsible for creating and integrating social norming campaigns that counter stigmas associated with seeking peer tutoring services, Supplemental Instruction (SI) or related academic support services.

  • Reporting to the Associate Director, the Program Coordinator is responsible for all programmatic tutoring services and SI programs. The Program Coordinator will oversee the coordination of services, which includes supervision, training, and development of undergraduate and graduate tutors and SI leaders, as well as promotion and marketing of services to students through classroom visits and various social media platforms. This position will also collect and analyze data for program improvement, while also applying for and maintaining the LRC’s international tutor training program certification through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). This position will support initiatives designed to increase the academic success of traditionally underrepresented student groups, which includes students that are English speakers of other languages. This includes being responsible for redesigning the tutoring program to incorporate an online tutoring component into its services to meet the demands of non-traditional students and/or online learners, and overseeing the Conversation Group initiative.

PLEASE NOTE:Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring range for this position has been established at $39,769 to $42,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

*Minimum Qualifications: *

  • A bachelor’s degree in communication, higher education, counseling, student affairs, economics, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 2 years of professional level experience in providing learning support services in a higher education setting.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience in recruiting, hiring, developing, and evaluating student employees

  • 1 year of experience in preparing and conducting CRLA certified tutor and SI trainings

  • 2 years of experience in supporting the success of students from ethnically and culturally diverse populations

  • Demonstrated knowledge of different technologies to deliver tutoring services; best practice understanding of how to leverage campus technology to support student learning
