University of Colorado PeopleSoft Administrator in Denver, Colorado

Position Summary:

University Information Services (UIS) provides technical services and enterprise applications to the University of Colorado campuses and the Office of the President. UIS is committed to excellence in customer service and technical expertise. Through the development of enterprise applications, UIS supports the University as a whole with systems used by students, faculty, human resources employees, finance employees, and others.

The PeopleSoft Administrator supports current PeopleSoft applications as well as technical systems and seeks out process improvements to assist in future decisions on enterprise level services provided to the University of Colorado campuses. This position designs, builds, and maintains PeopleSoft environments, supports system rollouts, responds to and troubleshoots escalated operational issues while managing internal and external customer relationships. The PeopleSoft Administrator supports daily operations of PeopleSoft applications. This position reports to the Assistant Director of ECS Oracle Team and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Executes IT operational objectives by maintaining current systems, which includes:

o Evaluating, recommending, testing and installing new technology

o Contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews

o Preparing and completing action plans

o Implementing production changes, quality, and customer-service standards

o Resolving problems

o Completing audits

o Identifying trends

o Determining system improvements for the PeopleSoft systems

  • Confirms system specifications with customers and team members

  • Analyzes workflow, access, information, and security requirements

  • Designs PeopleSoft systems

  • Assists in setting technology currency and upgrades for PeopleSoft systems, conferring with vendors and services

  • Develops, tests, evaluates, and installs enhancements and new software

  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential

  • Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

  • Works with principal business units to forecast existing workload growth and to assess new project impacts

  • Supports technically complex production and non-production environments: resolves daily issues, maintaining documentation, configuring, patching, scripting, monitoring, data security, and all aspects of system health

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following:

  • Knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft software

  • Knowledge of technical administration processes and practices

  • Knowledge of IT security best practices for technical environments and data management

  • Strong problem solving skills and effective communication, along with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a cross-functional team

  • Ability to grow technical skills to improve internal systems and processes

  • Ability to interact positively, clearly, and professionally with customers, peers and upper management

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education or equivalent professional experience. (The educational requirement may be substituted by professional work experience on a year for year basis)

  • Three (3) years working in a technical administrator role to include:

o Experience with UNIX or Linux OS

o UNIX shell scripting skills

o SQL skills

o Experience installing enterprise server-side applications

o Familiarity with n-tiered architectures

o Familiarity with key enterprise infrastructure components (network, storage, servers)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Standard PeopleSoft Administration skills to include any of the following:

o Installing PeopleTools and PeopleSoft Applications

o Applying PeopleTools and Application Patches

o Use of Application Designer

o Use of Data Mover

o Use of Change Assistant

o Understanding of the UNIX OS

o Understanding of change control processes

  • Integration Broker architecture and configuration experience

  • Puppet Automation

  • PS Admin in Linux on VMWare environments

  • PS Admin for PeopleSoft Campus Solutions

  • PS Admin for PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal

  • Implementation and administration of Phire

  • Exposure to Change Control

  • Solid understanding of ITIL principles
